More than just a cowgirl - also a lady

So I had a thought today when I was getting out of the shower - it went something like this:

"Why do I even bother to shave my legs and smell nice?  It's not like the horses care..."

I had to remind myself that although I'm single and live in the middle of nowhere, that someday I'll find that special guy.  I wouldn't want him to think that I'm just some ranchy cowgirl who doesn't care about taking care of herself.  So that's why I'm going to do something nice for myself every day - and NOT feel silly about it.  Whether it's putting on mascara because it makes me feel pretty, or a squirt of perfume because I like the smell, or adding my silver concho to my braid just because.  I think it's really important for gals in not-so-glamorous occupations to remember that although our jobs often time are our lives, we are still ladies.

So I challenge all you other ladies out there to remember to be feminine, take care of yourself, and enjoy being a girl!  The horses don't care, but the cowboys sure do! :)

Love Has a Thousand Faces

First off, welcome to my new blog!  I don't really know what I'm going to put out here, but you can bet it will probably be filled with horse stuff!  So on that note, my first post will be about a horse.  A very special horse.  The kind that if he were a human I'd marry him.  Just kidding...  But seriously, I was riding today and heard a song come on the radio called "1,000 Faces" by Randy Montana (funny huh?).  Part of the lyrics is "love has a thousand faces, but I see you".  What hit me about this song is that love does indeed have a thousand faces.  It's not just reserved for your family, or your spouse, or your children.  Love can be given and received in so many forms.  So one of my faces of love, is Lost, my special horse.  He is everything that I love about a horse and what I love about people too.  He is innocent, sweet, totally transparent, and would follow me anywhere because he trusts me.

Maybe we should all look around at the faces of love in our lives, the kind that we might miss if we aren't paying attention.  What faces of love do you all see?
